How it works

How weekly AI answer checks work

TL;DR

Each week Pivot Labs asks your tracked buyer prompts on Perplexity, ChatGPT and Gemini (plus Claude on Premium, optional) and records whether your brand is Cited, Mentioned or Missing. It doesn't crawl your site or control the models — it measures answers and drafts content to close the gaps.

Last updated: 2 October 2026

The weekly loop

  1. Measure — your tracked prompts are asked on each engine.
  2. Find the gap — prompts where you're Missing, or a rival is named and you aren't.
  3. Draft — a next move (Direct Answer, Comparison, FAQ or Guide) written from your Brand Formula and scored On-Formula.
  4. You publish — export a draft to WordPress or Shopify, or copy it. Nothing auto-publishes.
  5. Recheck — next week's check shows what moved. History builds from the second check.

What the statuses mean

  • Cited — your site is linked as a source in the answer.
  • Mentioned — your brand is named, but your site isn't cited.
  • Missing — your brand doesn't appear in the answer.

FAQ

Does Pivot Labs crawl my site?

No. Checks are probes: the prompts are asked on the answer engines and the answers are recorded. It's not a site crawl or technical SEO audit.

Which engines are checked?

Perplexity, ChatGPT and Gemini on both plans. Claude is optional on Premium.

What does Missing mean?

Your brand didn't appear in that engine's answer to that prompt that week. It's a signal to publish a clear answer page, not a permanent verdict.
