The Pivot Labs Guide
Everything your brand needs to win customers everywhere they look. Read the first two sections and you'll get it. The rest is here when you need it.
01 What Pivot Labs is
Most tools make you re-explain your brand every time you write something. Pivot Labs flips that.
Teach the AI your brand once — your Brand Formula — and it writes on-brand content across every channel, engineered to beat your competitors and land on the moments people actually buy.
One brain. Social captions, emails, AI-search content. All in your voice, all pulling from the same formula, all getting sharper the more you use it.
That's the whole idea. Everything below is how.
02 Start here: your Brand Formula
The Brand Formula is the engine. Build it once and every channel reads from it.
It captures four things:
- Voice — how you sound. We learn it from your best captions or your site.
- Buying moments (CEPs) — the real moments people buy your category (e.g. "running low," "switching off a competitor," "gifting"). This is what makes your content get bought, not just liked.
- Competitor edge — who you're up against and exactly where you beat them.
- Distinctive assets — the words, claims, and proof that are yours.
Setting it up: the setup wizard walks you through basics → voice samples (paste captions or import your site) → drivers → buying moments → competitors → reveal. At the end you'll see your formula and a few sample captions in your new voice.
It's never locked. Edit any part anytime on the Brand formula page, or click Re-run setup to revise (it pre-fills what you already have — you're tweaking, not starting over). Every edit updates the one shared formula, so all channels update together.
It compounds. Every time you generate and keep winners, the formula gets stronger. You never start from scratch again.
03 The channels
Same formula, three places your customers look.
CaptionStudio — Social
Write on-brand captions for Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and Facebook — each in the platform's native style. Two modes:
- Feed — generate captions one idea at a time, with a buying moment, optional competitor to beat, and platform picks.
- Calendar — plan a whole month across platforms. Add key dates (launches, sales) and we coordinate a campaign across channels; click any slot to draft the full post.
FlowCraft — Email
Email sequences in your voice — Welcome, Abandoned cart, Win-back, Custom, and the Challenger sequence (a flow engineered to win share from a specific rival). Plus an Email Calendar to plan a month of broadcasts around your buying moments and key dates. You write and plan here; you send from your own tool (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, ConvertKit) via clean export.
AI Search
Buyers ask AI now — not just Google. This channel checks whether AI recommends you for the real questions in your category across 2 AI-search engines (refreshed weekly), shows where rivals get cited, and generates brand-voiced answer content to help you become the answer.
04 Key concepts, in plain English
- Buying moments (CEPs) — the situations that make someone buy your category. Write into them and you get bought, not just scrolled past.
- On-Formula score (0–100) — how well a piece matches your formula. Higher = more on-brand.
- Likely win / G-A-R — a green/amber/red read on whether a piece is likely to perform. Green = ship it.
- Competitor-beating — toggle a saved rival and the AI writes to out-position them, using your real edge (never naming them in the copy).
- Cite-likely — on AI Search answer content, a 0–100 estimate of how likely AI is to quote it. A prediction, re-checked after you publish.
- AI-search coverage — the % of your tracked questions where AI actually recommends you (across the AI engines we check).
- Formula strength — how developed your Brand Formula is. It climbs as you use the product.
05 Your first win in 10 minutes
- Build your formula (8 min) — the setup wizard.
- New post → Feed — type an idea, pick a buying moment, hit Generate. Read the On-Formula score and the "why."
- Add a competitor (Competitors page), toggle it on, regenerate — watch the caption out-position them.
- Save your winner to Library.
That's the loop. Do it once and the rest of the product makes sense.
06 Every page, briefly
- Dashboard — where your brand stands this week: formula strength, recent winners, a weekly outlook teaser. Your home base.
- New post (Feed) — generate captions. Idea + buying moment + platforms + optional competitor → on-brand posts with scores.
- New post (Calendar) — plan a month across platforms; add key dates for coordinated campaigns; draft posts on click.
- Library — every caption you've saved, tagged by result and buying moment. Filter to find winners fast.
- Brand formula — your engine. See the fingerprint, edit every detail, re-run setup.
- Competitors — save rivals once; we derive your edge over each and use it to beat them in every caption.
- What's winning — which angles win reliably (not just once), from your connected performance.
- Weekly outlook — the outside-in view: what's moving in your category and what rivals did this week, with your move.
- Email · FlowCraft — sequences + the email calendar. Premium.
- AI Search — be the answer when buyers ask AI. Premium.
- Billing — your plan, usage, and upgrades.
07 Email · FlowCraft — in depth Premium
FlowCraft writes email sequences and monthly plans in your brand voice, pulling from the same formula as your captions. You plan and write here, then export to your own sender (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, ConvertKit) — we don't send.
Sequence types:
- Welcome — introduce new subscribers in your voice.
- Abandoned cart — recover lost checkouts.
- Win-back — re-engage lapsed buyers.
- Custom — a one-off for a drop, sale, or occasion; pick a buying moment and generate.
- Challenger (the sharp one) — a 3–4 email flow engineered to win share from a specific rival. Pick a competitor and it builds the whole sequence around exactly where you beat them (contrast, never naming them): reframe → proof → objection → switch. Change the rival and it rebuilds on the right angle.
Every email is a full email, not a snippet: subject line, preheader/preview text, sender ("From: your team"), 2–3 A/B subject options, greeting with a {first_name} merge tag, body, a clear call-to-action, and a sign-off — each with an On-Formula score and its buying moment.
Email Calendar — plan a month of broadcasts. The AI lays out a sensible cadence around your buying moments, seasons, and any key dates you add (launches, sales). Each slot shows a theme + subject; click to draft the full email. A gentle frequency warning flags if you're over-sending.
Export — copy a single email or a whole sequence as clean HTML, plain text, or formatted for Klaviyo/Mailchimp/ConvertKit. Paste-ready, no sending.
08 AI Search — in depth Premium
Buyers increasingly ask AI instead of Googling. AI Search makes your brand the answer — in your formula's voice. We check across 2 AI-search engines, refreshed weekly. It runs as a simple loop:
Step 1 — Measure. Click Run prompts and we check the real questions buyers ask AI in your category. Each comes back as:
- Cited — AI recommends your site. You're the answer. Defend it.
- Mentioned — your name appears but you're not a cited source. Close — one push to win.
- Missing — you don't appear. Open opportunity.
Coverage is shown as "cited in 2 of 2 AI engines" (strong) or "cited in 1 of 2 — gap" (opportunity), so you can see multi-engine reach at a glance.
Step 2 — Close the gaps. For any prompt you don't own, hit Fill to generate answer content — a brand-voiced FAQ, comparison, or guide built to get cited. Each carries a cite-likely score (how likely AI is to quote it). Use "✨ Suggest prompts" to discover more questions your buyers ask.
Step 3 — Publish & track. Publish the content to your site (or a blog/Reddit/social), mark it done, and we track whether AI starts citing you over the following weeks.
Beat the competition — see where rivals get cited (their blog, Reddit, reviews), what content assets they have that you don't, and your prioritized next moves to overtake them.
Your KPIs — AI-search coverage (% of prompts where AI recommends you), prompts you're cited in, average rank when cited, and your rival's share to beat.

10 Publishing & exporting
Pivot Labs helps you create and plan — you publish from the tools you already use. Copy any caption or email, or export a whole sequence (HTML, plain text, or formatted for Klaviyo/Mailchimp/ConvertKit). We don't post for you or compete with your scheduler — we make the content that goes into it.
11 FAQ
Does it sound like AI? No — it writes from your formula (your real captions, voice, and edge), not a generic template.
What are buying moments / CEPs? The real moments people buy your category. Writing into them is what turns "nice post" into "sale."
How does competitor-beating work? Save a rival's positioning; we derive where you genuinely beat them and write copy that out-positions them — without naming them.
Which platforms? Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Facebook (social); Klaviyo/Mailchimp/ConvertKit export (email).
Do you post for me? No. You export or copy to your own scheduler/sender.
Can I leave with my formula? Yes — it's yours; export your content anytime.
How does the free trial work? 7 days of full Premium access. Cancel anytime before it ends and you're not charged.
